The second annual careers expo was held at the Cooma multi function centre on Tuesday August 17. Ken Dane from Rotary officially opened the expo and welcomed everyone. The Expo was specifically aimed at local students from the high schools and TAFE, who were then able to explore options for employment and further education from various stands. Stands were handing out written information, answering questions and had displays regarding their business all available for the students. The students were able to gain information from people in regards to different avenues they could take, for example traineeships and apprenticeships. TAFE and several universities were also represented at the expo and were able to advise the students with any questions they had. After a successful day organiser Debbie Thomas said, “It was really well attended with a variety of stalls having displays that were very different from last year. “The students all seemed interested and engaged in conversation with the stall holders.” St Patrick’s Cooma, Monaro High, Snowy Mountains Grammar School and Jindabyne Central School all attended the expo.
