Strengthening the Cooma Chamber of Commerce’s presence in town and increasing its membership base are the two main priorities for new president, Alicia Bolton.
Mrs Bolton has been an active member of the chamber committee for a decade and has served as vice-president for three years. She is eager to continue the progress made under outgoing presidents and further enhance the chamber’s role within the local business community.
“I really want to see more businesses become chamber members. The greater our numbers, the stronger our voice and the more we can achieve together,” Mrs Bolton said.
“It’s an important time for the business community. We know many businesses, particularly in retail, are facing ongoing challenges. The chamber is here to advocate for them, promote local enterprise, and help identify solutions that support long-term sustainability.”
Bolton, who owns Mainstreet Clothing in Sharp Street with her husband Simon, said the chamber will be working closely with local businesses to better understand their current needs and explore new opportunities emerging in the Cooma region.
“We want to work collaboratively with our members to address the challenges they’re experiencing and to look ahead at what’s next for Cooma; whether that’s new industries, regional growth, or business innovation,” she said.
“The more connected we are as a business community, the better positioned we’ll be to make the most of future opportunities.”
