If the Bombala Blue Heelers were looking to appoint senior coaches who love the club, then their 2026 appointments certainly fit the bill.
You could argue it would be hard to find coaches with more Blue Heelers experience and passion than the coaches ready to lead the first grade, reserve grade and High Heelers side.
The club has signed Liam Beazley and Korie Elton as its first grade coaches for the 2026 season.
Beazley is one of the Heelers' most successful players of the last decade. His efforts have received multiple players' player and best and fairest awards.
A club spokesperson said Beazley is highly respected by players, club volunteers and supporters.
"Liam is a true clubman through and through. His determination, work ethic and passion for the game have always set the standard both on and off the field," the spokesperson said.
"Liam is known for his leadership and consistency in both the centre and edge forward positions. Liam was a key part of our 2022 minor premiership winning first grade side."
Joining Beazley as co-coach is premiership winning player, Korie Elton. Elton has been involved with the club for 24 years, starting as a player in 2001. In 2001, he claimed his first senior premiership in reserve grade.
"Korie’s infectious energy, leadership, and proven success as a premiership-winning coach are the qualities we’re after as we look to give our 2026 playing group every chance to succeed," the spokesperson said.
Elton enhanced his club legacy in 2022 as a premiership winning captain/coach.
The Bombala High Heelers will be looking to go one better in 2026 after falling just short of another Group 16 premiership this season. The High Heelers will again have the reliable and experienced Paul Perkins as coach.
"Paul is a proven winner. He led the first grade side to a premiership in 2018 as captain/coach, and carried that same drive and passion into his coaching of the High Heelers, guiding them to the 2024 league-tag premiership," the spokesperson said.
"With years of experience in the senior grades as both a player and coach, Paul’s transition into the league tag ranks has been seamless. His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to developing every player have built a winning culture that the High Heelers proudly uphold.
"Looking ahead, Paul is also excited to continue the development of our junior High Heelers coming through the ranks, helping pave the way for a strong and successful future for the women’s program and the club as a whole."
The Blue Heelers reserve grade side came agonisingly close to a premiership this season with an extra-time loss.
The side was superbly led by coaches Andrew Anderson and Keiran Wilson. Anderson was one of the side's best players also. He starred in the grand final.
"Their impact on and off the field was felt right across the playing group, earning the utmost respect from everyone involved," the spokesperson said.
"The leadership, professionalism, and passion both Andrew and Keiran bring to the group is second to none. They’ve built a strong culture built on accountability, effort, and enjoyment, the kind of environment players are proud to be part of.
"Their ability to connect with players and bring the best out of each individual has been a key reason behind the team’s success."
