Membership to Monaro Farming Systems (MFS) is now due for the year and the organisation is extending an invitation to join MFS.
MFS is a producer-led group focused on practical learning, strong networks and locally relevant research and events across the Monaro.
It aims to provide members with proven, relevant and targeted information which improves knowledge and profitability; provide a forum to focus on and manage research, development and extension on the Monaro; provide opportunities for members to interact and exchange ideas; be member owned and driven; continue to develop partnerships by seeking the involvement of individuals and organisations in the pursuit of the group’s objectives; and improve the level of capability/capacity of the whole Monaro grazing community to lift performance and improvement.
Membership includes access to field days, workshops and projects, the Soils Club, and soil test credits, with memberships available that cover the business and employees.
“Anyone with an interest in agriculture and the Monaro region can be involved in MFS - you don’t need to be a small or large-scale property owner to join,” MFS executive officer, Bec Kading, said.
“Monaro Farming Systems is about practical, on-farm learning and strong local networks - it’s producers learning from producers, focused on the issues that matter here on the Monaro.”
There are five membership subscription categories including one for non-farming individuals/non-farm business entities, suitable for those with a connection and/or general interest in the Monaro and social well-being.
Other categories are association, core, premium and corporate memberships.
As a member you benefit from being involved in a local, farmer driven organisation which identifies the issues that really matter, and directs its own learning and information delivery to continually improve business productivity and sustainability.
The MFS group was established in 2007 by a progressive group of local innovative producers with industry support with an aim to build capacity and continuous improvement in the Monaro grazing industry.
Over the years, MFS has grown from strength to strength and now consists of more than 65 farm businesses which equates to more than 200 individuals.
“Programs like our long-running Soils Club give members practical tools, including soil testing and decision support, that they can use straight away in their own businesses,” Ms Kading said.
Visit the MFS website www.monarofarmingsystems.com.au to learn more about MFS, its board, projects, planned events, membership options and to watch a range of testimonials about the group.
