The new Australia Post Cooma office has had its doors open in Centennial Plaza for just over two weeks now.

In this time staff have been extremely busy with not just Christmas mail, but assisting customers with the new parcel collection technology - which has proved popular with local residents.

The Australia Post office site at Cooma is now fully accessible and more spacious than the temporary shop on Sharp Street.

Australia Post said the new premises, opened on November 24, has received an extremely positive response from locals, with customers finding the new space far easier to access and move around.

“The outlet has a fresh and modern design and back-of-house storage space to better accommodate customer demand for parcels,” Australia Post’s, Sonia MacLean, said.

“Brand new parcel lockers at the post office are already proving extremely popular as a free, flexible and secure option for parcel pick up.”

The post office in Cooma moved from the historic building on the corner of Vale and Massie Streets, where it had been located for many decades, to a shop front in Sharp Street as a temporary location while the permanent post office in Centennial Plaza was being renovated and fitted out.

Ms MacLean said the parcel lockers are a new free service for those who use the post office in Cooma.

“It’s quickly become a service everybody seems to really appreciate and they are heavily utilised.”
