With winter in Jindabyne being such a busy period as thousands of workers and visitors converge on the town, the Jindabyne Lions Club hibernate during the snow season.

Now spring is in the air, the club is back in action with a number of events on its calendar. One of the club’s largest fundraisers is the Coolamatong Snowy Mountains Country Club charity par three golf day, held last Sunday.

The club caters the golfers’ lunch and then holds a fun auction with products provided by members and friends.

The Lions club has thanked the golf club and Jindabyne Bowling and Sports Club for arranging this fun day and helping raise funds for the Jindabyne Lions Club to put back into the community.

On Sunday, 7 December, the club hosts one of its most important events with the annual seniors Christmas party at Jindabyne Sport and Rec.

The lunch is open to seniors older than 60 from Jindabyne, Adaminaby, Dalgety and Berridale.

The delicious lunch is provided by sport and rec staff and local groups provide support and entertainment.

Local singers, Cool Change, will entertain the gathering with Christmas carols, while the scouts at TS Orion cadets will serve lunch.

The event is free and bookings are now open - RSVP to 6450 0285 or 5650 0216 by Monday, 24 November. Free transport can also be arranged.

For the past five years, the Jindabyne Lions Club has hosted the local Australia Day citizenship awards for Jindabyne. This year, the club did not receive grant funding via a National Australia Day grant. The club will not be able to host the event or co-ordinate the awards.

Discussions are taking place with Snowy Monaro Regional Council on how an awards ceremony could be held.

The club is always looking for new volunteers to carry out its important community work.

The club can be contacted via Facebook or its website, new members always welcome.
