While there is only one month to go, many may not feel quite in the Christmas spirit yet.

Well that is all about to change, when Postman John’s iconic Christmas light display officially switches on at 4 Bent Street in Jindabyne this Friday, 28 November.

Jindabyne resident, John Mcloughlin, known locally as Postman John, has created a tradition for the town over more than 35 years. He spends months setting up an enormous display of Christmas lights at his house, which he has used to raise money for various local organisations over the years.

This year, Postman John has planned an impressive opening night. Origin Energy will have a team present as special guests, popular local band Cool Change will be singing Christmas carols, the Jindabyne Rugby Union Club’s Bushpigs will be doing a sausage sizzle, and Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, will flick the switch at 8.15pm.

A wonderful family event, the opening night will attract hundreds to see the 2025 lights turn on. Gold coin donations are appreciated, as Postman John will again be raising money for a good cause.

The light display will be on every night until 1 January, so make sure to bundle the kids into the car and bring them to see this magical display of Christmas joy.
