ADDRESS: ‘Riverview’, Cooma NSW, 764 ha, 1667 acres
Numeralla River acreage, Chakola Valley |
When in hay production, the property was producing approximately six tons per acre of lucerne hay since the 1980s.
In the 2019 drought, it produced approximately 350 tons of cereal hay from 110 acres of river flats sown down, together with the running of 1000 sheep and 70 head of beef cattle.
During the winter months at the start of the drought, ‘Riverview’ was pasturing 500 head of grown cows with access to approximately 1000 acres. 500 sheep were also run.
The only supplements were salt lick blocks.
‘Riverview’ has an irrigation licence and has permanent water via the three kilometres of river frontage and permanent springs. It also contains three groundwater bores.
There is also a spring fed gravity system which supplies water to the house paddock and garden.
A series of dams along the erosion gullies have supplied reliable water for stock.
A diesel pump which supplies water to a concrete tank and associated pipeline was limited in its use once the dams were put in place as they supplied a reliable natural water source.
On ‘Riverview’ there are approximately 300 acres of river flats on approximately 1000 acres of red and grey loam, volcanic origin, suited to growinglucerne, cereal crops, brassicas and vegetables.
All of which have been successfully produced by the owners in the past.
‘Riverview’ has eight allowable separate building entitlements covering the 1667 acres (STCA).
