The Bombala High Heelers are through to another grand final following a strong showing in the side’s qualifying win over Eden.

A five try effort secured a 24-4 win, extending the side’s undefeated season. The High Heelers have earned a week off before playing the winner of the Bega and Eden preliminary final on Sunday.

The High Heelers opened the scoring in just the second minute when Brylie Stewart finished off a terrific attacking set from the Bombala side. The play started when Karter Hampshire broke through the middle from her own half.

On the next play, Patrice Clear drifted across the Eden line before linking up with Maree Coates who went close to crossing the line.

The High Heelers sent the ball back to the left where a nice exchange of passes from Monique Perkins, Tanner Hurley and Zara Badewitz found Stewart who put the ball down out wide.

A second try came in the 11th minute when Coates received a nice pass from Hampshire who again broke the line. Coates raced 40 metres to score. Bombala had opened up a 10-0 lead.

Eden crossed for its first and only try in the 19th minute when a kick to the corner bounced and was put down by Eden.

A third try for Bombala came against the run of play, when Lily Hampshire produced an intercept to run 30 metres to score.

Bombala extended its lead to 18-4 when another nice backline move to the left saw Stewart receive a nice pass from Badewitz to score in the corner. Karter Hampshire put the game beyond doubt when she charged over under the posts.

On Sunday 6 September, a large Bombala crowd is expected to make the trip to Bega to cheer the team on.
