For the first time in the history of the Jindabyne Rugby Union Club its men’s and women’s senior sides have both reached the grand final in the same season.

An exciting day of finals rugby union took place at John Connors Oval, Jindabyne, with the Jindabyne Miss Piggies defeating Easts and the Bushpigs overcoming the Cooma Red Devils to progress to this Saturday’s grand finals.

The Bushpigs and Red Devils, the 2025 premiers, played a tough qualifying final with the homeside prevailing 31-15. The Bushpigs backline was in fine form as captain, Dylan Johnson, orchestrated his side’s attack from flyhalf.

Two quick tries to the Bushpigs just after halftime setup the win as the side crossed for five tries to Cooma’s two.

The Jindabyne Miss Piggies, the reigning premiers and celebrating 20 years since forming, will meet the Cooma Devils Angels in the women’s 10s premiership decider, a rematch of last year’s grand final.

In just two years, the Cooma Devils Angels and Jindabyne Miss Piggies have developed one of the region’s great sporting rivalries.

The Miss Piggies won through to the premiership decider with a 43-12 win over Easts.

In front of a large home crowd, the Miss Piggies raced in three tries in just the opening 12 minutes of the match. Tilhaney Grainger was the star of the show, scoring four tries.

Miss Piggies prop and club publicity officer, Saskia Dutch, was proud of the side’s effort.

“Easts were always going to be tough, like all the Canberra teams,” Dutch said.

“We just had to bring it back to basics until we knew we were comfortable enough to take it up another notch.”

The Cooma Devils Angels scored a try after the siren to win a thrilling match against Goulburn, in Goulburn.

Lucette Horsfield scored the winner, to take the Devils Angels through to their second consecutive grand final in just the side’s second season back in competitive rugby since the early 2000s.

Captain, Brianna Rankin, praised her side’s effort and said the playing group is excited to feature in another grand final.

“Everyone is feeling pumped up for it. It’s a rematch of last year so everyone will be keen to rip in and get the win,” Rankin said.
