THE Jindabyne community has come together to discuss aged care services and what is offered in town and the region.
Around 50 people attended the meeting led by Snowy Monaro Regional Council councillors, Narelle Davis and Nick Elliott.
Ms Davis is a retired registered nurse of more than 20 years and currently sits on the board of Southern NSW Local Health District, she carries a wealth of knowledge of the health care system and was the driving force behind last Wednesday’s meeting.
Other health care representatives attended to share their knowledge on the local aged care system including, Cooma Hospital registered nurse, Lucille Ingram, Council Community Support co-ordinator, Rachel Roehl, and chief executive officer at Cooma Challenge, Angie Ingram.
Lucille addressed the crowd first, urging the community who need aged care services to register with My Aged Care, a government initiative providing information and support to better understand, access and navigate the aged care system.
“Available to those 65-years-old and over, My Aged Care provides information on the different types of aged care services available, an assessment of needs to identify eligibility and the right type of care,” Lucille said.
“As well as referrals and support to find service providers that can meet your needs and information on what you might need to pay towards the cost of your care.”
