HAZELDEAN’S autumn Angus bull sale has defied market conditions to sell to a top of $26,000 while clearing all 80 bulls.
A delighted Ed Bradley, head of Hazeldean’s sales and marketing, declared last week’s sale a success following continued support from clients across NSW and interstate.
“We are pretty happy with how it all went. The season has been tough for some and good for others,” Mr Bradley said.
“It’s good to see bulls going all over NSW. There were some good value bulls there, everyone could shop at our annual autumn bull sale.”
Bulls averaged $11,925 with Mr Bradley citing the stud’s high docility rates as one of the major factors behind Hazeldean’s continued success.
“Our high docility is important, it’s a huge trait commercials are looking for,” Bradley said.
“High docility is the trait of most importance. Commercials are looking not only for weight gains but ease of handling.
“We have a strong spread of breeding values, fertility growth and carcase is what we focus on.”
The Litchfield family is looking forward to celebrating Hazeldean’s 160th anniversary in September this year.
