THE region's bowling clubs have received communication from a newly formed working group consisting of Zone 7, Far South Coast Ladies, Snowy Mountains Ladies, Bega Imlay Ladies and South Coast Ladies Districts in regards to unification of the five districts.

The Zone 7 Executive has appointed Mick Duprez, John Chalker and Tim Kovacs to represent the zone on the working group that will consist of Zone 7, Far South Coast ladies, Snowy Mountains ladies, Bega Imlay ladies and South Coast ladies Districts

Current Zone 7 President Mick Duprez said the working group will select an interim committee to manage the new region which will be called South Coast Bowls.

“The interim committee will hold office until a second AGM is held after which the new Committee will be called the Management Committee,” Mr Duprez said.

“Each existing zone and district will be wound up and assets transferred to the new Regional Association.

“All new regions will be incorporated and registered by Bowls NSW.”

Mr Duprez said all members of the existing zone and districts will become members of the new association.

“We have received a draft copy of the new constitution, which is the same for all regions,” he said.

“As yet we don't have any regulations but hope to by the time of the working group meets.”

The working group will meet at Narooma Bowling Club on March 10 formulating the interim committee and discussing the constitution, regulations and development of the region.

The unification and forming of South Coast Bowls is part of the wider unification of districts across NSW.

"The idea of a combined region came from Bowls NSW to alleviate duplication of administration and smoother running of events," he said.

"With communications these days things can be achieved easily in less time."
