Saturday was a busy day at the Cooma Golf Club with the ham hit out, president v captain shield and presentation afternoon.

In the ham hit Out, Fletch Jones was the overall winner with an excellent score of 48 points. A Grade was won by Stephen Young with a solid 39 points, while B Grade went to Tim Bedingfield with an impressive 41 points.

C Grade was claimed by Mark Kenmir with 37 points. Place-getters were Wayne Ryan, Rodney Baker, Tom Stewart, Stephen Edgenton, Steven Wheatley, Peter Devereux, Sean Smith and Phil Ingram, all rewarded for consistent rounds in a competitive field.

Nearest to the pin went to Mark Rainsford (ninth), Tom Stewart (11), and Sean Smith (17).

In the president v captain shield, the president’s team, lead by Lyndon Taylor took the win. After play was finished for the day, the presentation of awards was conducted, with winners of various trophies, cups and championships through the year recognized and awarded their prizes.

Sunday saw the introduction of a new competition; a nine-hole stableford open to members and non-members, including players without a handicap.

Dylan Litchfield was the handicap winner, while Lauren Crawford was the non-handicap winner on the day. The Sunday nine-hole stableford continues this weekend, with a shotgun start at 9am and includes a burger lunch.

In the midweek stableford, Craig Schofield was the overall winner with 40 points. In A Grade, David Stewart was the winner with a score of 37 points, while Wayne Flynn also recorded 37 points off to take B Grade on countback.

C Grade honours went to Lindsay Blewitt with 36 points.

Placer-getters on the day were John Harris, Alan Kelly, Gino Cerro, Barry Williams, Claire Caldwell, Harry Mould and Jim Webber. Nearest to the pin went to Wayne Flynn on hole nine and Roy Hankinson 17.

This week, the Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday competitions are all stablefords, with Saturday including split sixers. On Friday, the last two-person twilight ambrose for the year will be held. Tee off starts from 3:30 pm.
