Sailors from the Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club took their Nacra catamarans to Canberra to compete in the 2025 Masters Games from October 20 to 24.

The regatta was efficiently run by Canberra Yacht Club at Yarralumla on Lake Burley Griffin and included 105 competing craft and around 140 competitors.

Nine divisions were split over three course areas with the local sailors competing in the fast catamaran division one on the West Lake course off the club.

Jindabyne’s Doug Paterson, Alan Davis and Tim Symons completed eight races over three days. One day’s racing was cancelled due to gale force winds. Conditions varied over the races and the congested course made for much excitement.

Doug Paterson came second overall on a count back as first to third places all ended on the same score. Alan Davis came fourth and Tim Symons 10th.

Doug won a race on day three and Alan won a race on day four. The sailors enjoyed the sailing and catching up with old mates at the Canberra Yacht Club.

The Master Games Regatta was followed by the annual ACT Multihull Championships Regatta held by the YMCA Sailing Club on October 25 and 26.

The Jindabyne sailors also competed in this regatta which involved six races sailed over the two days. Seventeen boats competed in two divisions.

Alan Davis came fourth out of nine competitors in division one. Doug Paterson came sixth and Tim Symons eighth.

The three local sailors enjoyed their week away at these two regattas.
