BOMBALA’S Under 12s League Tag side took out their Group 16 Minor Grand Final on Saturday, thrilling the home crowd and wider community.

Bombala was decked out in pink and blue leading up to the September 2 home grand final, with shop windows, school fences and even the main bridge decorated to support the sole local team to have made it through the finals.

A big crowd rolled up to the Bombala Exhibition Ground for the full day of footy, but the Under 12s League Tag fixture was of course the highlight for Bombala, with the local ‘Pink Pups’ running out through a tunnel of supporters and streamers to loud applause.

The locals took on an undefeated Batemans Bay side, but even with the odds stacked against them they held their own right up until the nail-biting finish, taking the victory 18 points to 16.

Coach Todd Peisley was of course amongst the many celebrating the exciting win.

“I am so proud of this team, watching them grow together throughout the season and over the last couple of weeks. To have such hard games, fighting to get to the grand final and then to win against Batemans Bay who where undefeated - it was a gutsy effort,” Peisley said.

“They played as a team, helping each other out all game. It was inspiring, and I was proud to be a part of a great team. Go Pink Pups!”

The Bombala and District Junior Rugby League Club was amongst the many offering congratulations to both Coach and team, while praise also came in for the Club’s effort in hosting such a great day of Minor Grand Finals with Group 16.
