Australian snowboarding legend, Jye Kearney, loves golf. He loves to come to the Coolamatong Golf Club where he finds a sense of peace.

Wanting to share his love of the game, he approached the golf club to hold a fundraising day to raise money for his preferred charity In Pieces Together, a mental health community founded in response to the 3,000 plus lives lost to suicide in Australia each year.

Ninety-six players took to the field on Saturday in very windy conditions. There were many good plays throughout the day.

Winners were: scratch team of Jordan Sell and Soren Stoetrup; nett winning team of Ben Hearn and Simon Freebody; scratch runners-up Jacob Ellis and Ewan Murdoch; scratch third Josh Crawford and Christie Barry; and nett third Alan Parsons and Jason Christie.

Nearest the pins on the par three holes were Aaron Fenton, Elise Cave, Soren Stoetrup, Karen Caban, Janece Peters, Josh Crawford, and Bryn Nicholas. Longest drive in the men was claimed by Jordan Sell and the ladies by Janece Peters.

A raffle was also held where some great prizes were won. Christie Barry won a Thredbo season pass. Benje Munce won a Burton snowboard who then kindly put it back up for auction. After some fierce bidding, Josh Lean’s offer of $500 saw him take home the board.

It was a successful day with $14,0000 raised for In Pieces Together. The club and Jye thanked players and sponsors for contributing to a great day. This will be an annual event.

Also held last weekend was the Coolamatong Golf Club's AGM. One of the highlights of the AGM was life memberships awarded to Roger and Michelle White who have served the club in various capacities over the past 25 years.

Ron Wallace and Ross Thompson both spoke of Roger and Michelle’s work over the years, volunteering for course work, machine maintenance, running the Town Club in the early days and many other jobs vital to running the golf club.
